The Prime Time for Success Program is a free employment program in Campbell River sponsored by the Government of Canada and the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation, The Prime Time for Success Program offers the mature worker (55 to 64 years old) with personalized support and assistance while finding employment. The Community Assistance Program (CAP) began on October 1st, 2006, following a three year pilot program in this region. Sponsored by the Ministry of Housing and Social Development, CAP is designed to help participants move forward, reconnect in the community, and therefore enhance the quality of their lives.
Agencies that provide this service in our region work with CAP participants to assist them with their living situations and their coping skills; new skills are taught to help participants deal with the challenges they face. Participants are assisted to connect to other community resources in order to have specialized needs met. Education, training and volunteering opportunities are identified, with an eventual goal to be independent and/or access local employment programs.
Participants can be involved with the CAP program for approximately 6 months. Through one to one counselling, workshops and individual supports, participants can-with the help of CAP Facilitators-achieve their goals for success.
